A Family Jerky Operation Out of Albany, New York
We are not a smokehouse. We are the family at the fair with the table you cannot walk past, and this is where that table lives the rest of the year.
Jerky Hut NY is run by Joseph and his father out of Albany, New York. For years the business has been a truck, a tent and a table at county fairs, motorcycle rallies, sportsman shows, boat shows, rodeos and balloon festivals across New York and New England, with an online store and an eBay store (1,000+ orders, 100% positive) filling the gaps between events.
Here is the honest version of what we do. We do not make the jerky. We find it. After years of tasting at shows and talking to the people who make the stuff, we carry two makers we would buy ourselves: Settlers Jerky Company, whose 7 oz bags cover the beef, the briskets, the bacon and the Buffalo wing chicken, and Whiskey Hill Smokehouse, which makes the 8 oz Jerky Hut label bags and the Trophy Series exotics where the gator, bison, elk, venison, wild boar, kangaroo and duck come from. That is the 26 bags on this site.
The exotics are what people remember us for. Nobody else in the Capital Region sells them, and most of the country has to travel to Florida or Louisiana to find half of them. We bring them to a fairground near you, and now we ship them from Albany.
The other thing people remember is the size of the bag. Seven or eight ounces of beef jerky for $25 is $3.13 to $3.57 an ounce. The national brands in the snack aisle run two or three times that. We have never been great at saying so. We are saying so now.
What we stand for
- Curators, not makers: We taste everything before we carry it, and we tell you exactly who made it.
- The exotic specialists: Eight meats you cannot buy anywhere near here. Kangaroo and gator barely exist in anyone's catalog this side of the Gulf.
- Big bags: Our beef bags are 7 and 8 oz. Most of the industry sells 2 to 3. Same $25, more jerky.
- Find us at events: Fairs, rallies, sportsman shows, balloon festivals. The schedule is on this site and the email list hears about each show first.
